An exciting opportunity exists for a Safety Assurance Officer to join our mighty Snowy 2.0 team! We're looking for someone that is highly skilled in Auditing, Risk Management, Site Surveillance and Heavy Vehicle National Law with the ability to work well within a team environment at a project level. The position will be responsible for providing an assurance and compliance function to ensure site works being undertaken by the appointed Principal Contractor are in line with agreed safety performance standards as per the EPC contract. This role is based onsite at Lobs Hole on a FIFO/DIDO roster of 8 days on, 6 days off.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Ensuring the Contractor has implemented management measures which meet all relevant contractual and legislative/regulatory requirements of the project
Build productive, collaborative, cooperative and supporting relationships with the Contractor's WHS and Construction Teams
Reviewing Contractor documentation against project requirements and obligations including but not limited to contractor work packs, safety management sub plans and procedures
Conducting regular and targeted site compliance inspections in conjunction with the Contractor's representatives
Assisting in undertaking desktop audits with the Contractor on targeted elements of the safety management system, as per the Snowy 2.0 Safety Activity schedule
Coordinating and reviewing any required Safety Hold Points and liaise between the Contractor and Snowy Hydro's site team
Playing a positive role in supporting Snowy Hydro's safety culture and values, promoting and demonstrating safe behaviours and practices and identifying hazards and unsafe acts
We're looking for someone with:
5+ years experience in Client safety roles in civil/building construction, or related industries.
A Safety Management System Auditing qualification
Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) lead investigation qualification and experience
Risk Management expertise including experience with Fatality Prevention/Major Hazards/ Critical Control program implementation
Proven knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, codes, standards and industry best practices
Proven ability to identify issues, problems and opportunities, make timely decisions and present appropriate and innovative best practice solutions
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including report writing
Strong influencing/negotiation and mentoring skills
