Position Summary: The family Nurse Practitioner, under physician direction is responsible for performing medical examination, diagnosis common medical conditions, managing stable phases ! of chronic illness, coordinating health management and assisting the clinic physician in delivering care to patients. The Internist supervises the Family Nurse Practitioner . The Family Nurse Practitioner reports to the Internist and the RN Clinic Practice Director. This position may also function independently performing off-site physical examinations.
Position responsibilities:
Under physician direction, provides primary care services to clinic patients including prescribing, dispensing or transmitting medications in accordance with standardized procedures and current state regulations.
Provides general counseling, guidance and health instructions to individual patients and family members.
Participates in the multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as required.
Assists the Internist in organizing and implementing appropriate quality assurance activities.
Seek supervision from supervising MD as appropriate.
! Works independently with minimum on-site supervision.
Functions as part of a team in the provision of patient-care and performance of daily activities.
Performs physical examinations off-site utilizing designated employer examination guidelines.
Participate in night and weekend call schedule and record patient calls according to Principles of Practice.
Participate in teaching activities as appropriate.
Other responsibilities:
Responsible for attending all mandatory in-services, continuing education and annual health requirements.
Comply with all Corporate Compliance policies, practices and procedures. Report all unethical activities to supervisor, Corporate Compliance Office, Values Hotline number or Human Resource Director
Comply with all OSHA and safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe practices or accidents to supervisor, Safety Supervisor and/or OSHA Coordinator.
Will be compliant with the relevant regulations concerning the p! rivacy and security of consumer's protected health information (PHI) as established by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Follow all policies and procedures set by the Agency.
Essential skills and experience:
Satisfactory completion of a formal Nurse Practitioner Training Program
Knowledge and understanding of the consumer group(s) served.
Essential requirements for the position:
Valid Tennessee Driver's License
Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation
